Even though Duke’s brutally heartbreaking overtime loss against Kansas in the Elite Eight was met with much pleasure from casual Duke haters coupled with a wide array of Grayson Allen detractors who loved seeing the senior’s career end in anguish, Jason Smith thinks the loss of college basketball’s most hated player has created a conversational void for the average fan.

Smith thinks Allen, who’s four years at Duke were remembered more for his tripping, than his heroics in the 2015 National Championship, was the most irresistible personality in the sport, whether you loved him or hated him, and everyone could join along in a water cooler discussion about the now-departed Blue Devil.
