UCLA Trying to Shortchange John Calipari From Kentucky is a Joke

Listen to Doug Gottlieb explain why UCLA offering Kentucky’s John Calipari LESS money to leave Lexington for Westwood is one of the most ‘UCLA things ever’, as the Bruins continued to follow in the footsteps of their frugal and often cheap spending habits when it comes to trying to pry away big-time head coaches to their campus.

Gottlieb compares the sequence of events to Notre Dame trying to sign Urban Meyer from Utah in 2004, only to see him receive an offer from Florida that was DOUBLE the offer he was getting from the Fighting Irish.

Check out the audio below as Gottlieb thinks if you’re going to go after your dream coaching candidate, you better throw a home run offer at them, as not only did UCLA lose out big on Cal but they unwillingly showed their cards on what they’re willing to pay annually for elite coaching.
