Why the Jacksonville Jaguars Should Get Rid of Jalen Ramsey Right Now

Jacksonville Jaguars v Houston Texans
Colin Cowherd: “Jacksonville already pays one of their cornerbacks a ton [A.J. Bouye]. Philadelphia won a Super Bowl and didn’t have a corner on the roster that made over a million dollars. New England DOES pay Stefon Gilmore but won’t pay a second corner. I would pay my quarterback first, my left tackle second, my edge rusher third, and my defensive tackle fourth unless it was Aaron Donald. It would then be cornerback back at five, center-six, and wide receiver-seven. This is another example of Ezekiel Elliott where you might have the first or second best player in the league at his position, but the NFL is not the NBA, and you have to get very comfortable moving off really great players. I’d let my best corner [Ramsey] go, because my second best corner [Bouye] is gonna be much less and is still really good. Sometimes when you have a history of losing you feel like you have to pay the rare star you have. But since Jacksonville drafted Jalen Ramsey they are 18-30. There is a very good team out there who is willing to pay for Ramsey. Get picks for him.”

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why the Jacksonville Jaguars should trade superstar cornerback Jalen Ramsey, after the 24-year-old former All-Pro notably showed up to Jaguars training camp on Wednesday in a Brinks truck, before stepping out of the back holding up bags of fake money.

Ramsey will earn $3.6 million this season in his fourth season, and then $13.7 million in 2020 after the team picked up his fifth-year option connected to his rookie deal.

He won’t be eligible to hit free agency until 2021 but will certainly demand to be the league’s highest paid corner when that time comes.

Miami’s Xavien Howard just signed a five-year, $76.5 million extension this past offseason with the Dolphins.

Colin says he would trade Ramsey considering the team already has the eighth highest paid corner in the league, A.J. Bouye.

Check out the audio below as Colin explains why it doesn’t make any sense to have two corners being two of your highest paid players when there's a handful of other positions that are much more vital to winning.
