Clay Travis Rips Gavin Newsom, Praises Ron DeSantis for COVID-19 Responses

Clay Travis: “We needed to avoid overloading the hospitals. Do you remember that argument? We wanted to make sure that when we peak we don’t overload the hospitals in this country. Well guess what, we peaked, and we didn’t overload the hospitals in this country. Now, I’m starting to see people like Gavin Newsom, the governor of California say, ‘well, until there’s a vaccine we can’t go back to work.’ NO, NO, NO. That is a different argument. If you’re so fearful that you don’t want to leave your house or your apartment or your condo, that is YOUR right. Nobody has to work, you can stay in your home curled up in the fetal position and you pull the covers over your head for as long as you want to, that is your right as an American. But that ain’t most people. Most people want to go back to work, and if there are politicians stopping us from going back to work, getting our economy rolling again, and stopping sports leagues and guys like Dana White and getting back to work, then guess what; they need to give the Heisman to those politicians and say ‘I’ll take my business elsewhere.' They need to make those politicians wear it. Gavin Newsom decided that you guys shouldn’t be able to watch the UFC on Saturday… I gotta give credit to Ron DeSantis and the state of Florida for doing the exact OPPOSITE of what California is doing. They went on Twitter actually trying to recruit Dana White, saying ‘dude, you don’t need an island, you can come to Florida and get back to work.' It’s a ‘can-do’ attitude as opposed to a can’t-do attitude.” (Full Audio Above)

Listen to Clay Travis discuss the vastly different COVID-19 responses of Florida governor Ron DeSantis (R) and California governor Gavin Newsom (D), as Clay believes Newson has completely dropped the ball in his handling of the coronavirus pandemic when it comes to his state’s stern belief to keep sports leagues from operating in California until 2021.
