Colin Cowherd Says Drew Lock is a Legitimate NFL MVP Candidate in 2020

Colin Cowherd: “The last two years a quarterback has won MVP in his second year, and it should be three years but Carson Wentz got hurt late in his second year. Let’s look at Mahomes’, Lamar, and Wentz’ rookie year stats. Mahomes played in one game, no touchdowns and a pick, with a 76 QB rating. He then won the MVP. He did NOTHING in his rookie year. Carson Wentz his rookie year had 16 touchdowns and 14 picks, and a QB rating, and barely completed 62% of his throws. The following year he was leading candidate for MVP until he got hurt. Lamar Jackson’s first year he had 6 touchdowns, 3 picks, 58% completion percentage, and passer rating 84. They ALL made massive jumps to year 2, to not only be good players, but to be MVPs… Go to Drew Lock, 7 touchdowns and 3 picks, 64 percent completion rate, and his QB rating rounded up to 90. He’s got better stats than all of them, and Denver, because of smart drafting has two good running backs, three excellent young receivers, and a Pro Bowl potential tight end… I think Lock is the ‘pop’ guy in the league this year.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd discuss a recent ESPN segment that had NFL Nation have a theoretical four-round fantasy draft for all 32 teams in a scenario where the league put every single player, regardless of position, into a draft pool with the same order from the 2020 Draft.

One of the most notable picks on the board was Broncos’ quarterback Drew Lock being selected 15th ahead of players the likes of Matt Ryan, Christian McCaffrey, Michael Thomas, DeAndre Hopkins, Kyler Murray, and George Kittle.

Check out the video above as Colin explains why he thinks NFL Nation got the Draft right, and why he thinks Lock will be the ‘pop’ guy in the league this season as a dark horse MVP candidate in 2020.
