Brian Kelly Explains Why Notre Dame Fans Stormed Field Amid COVID Concerns

Brian Kelly: “Our job obviously in that situation is to do the best we can to keep them from going on the field. We protected Clemson. I had alluded to my team that when we win this game, that like most fans throughout the country, they’re going to come onto the field. This was their last home game because we close down school next week, and they won’t be here for the December 5th game against Syracuse. They took the opportunity to come on the field, and we did the best we could under those circumstances.”

Dan Patrick: “It reminded me of Justin Turner in the World Series that emotion just overtakes common sense.”

Kelly: “Would we have liked it to be different? Yes. All those students were tested earlier in the week for COVID. It’s hard to stop students coming over the fence. We don’t have all the personnel to make it a situation where nobody can come over the fence and onto the field. Hopefully we get through it without any ill effects.” (Segment Above, Full Interview Below)
