Colin Cowherd: Dwayne Haskins' Release Was Not a Surprise

Colin Cowherd: “This just didn’t go well… If you didn’t know about anything other than watching him drop back and throw the ball you would say ‘that’s a successful guy.’ He’s big, he’s strong, he can throw an accurate ball, and he has a beautiful release. He LOOKS like a number one quarterback, but the concern out of Ohio State was always maturity. Even Urban Meyer came on this show and said he’s not ready to become a franchise quarterback, but unfortunately you’re asking a 22-year-old to run a $5 billion franchise and some guys aren’t ready for it… This is why guys like me come out about guys like Johnny Manziel, Baker, and Jameis about judgment because by the time you get to the NFL they’re not going to be patient. They literally almost cut him before the game on Sunday. Peter Schrager reported after that incident with the dancers that half the building was raising hands voting for him to get out of there… I heard things a year ago from somebody who works at Fox that there were a lot of problems that he was not showing up on time and that he was leaving the building early, so this is one of those things that if you’ve been working in our business for long enough and have enough sources you were hearing stuff last year even in preseason people were saying ‘man, he’s not as committed as you’d love a rookie to be.’ I don’t think the ending here is shocking to people who are well connected in the NFL.” (Full Video Above)
