Colin Cowherd Ranks the Top 10 Biggest Sports Stories of 2020

Listen to Colin Cowherd count down his rankings of the top 10 biggest sports stories of the year 2020.

10. Patrick Mahomes agrees to 10-year, $503 million extension with Chiefs

“To many, he is this generation’s version of John Elway, and simply more talented than everybody else. He signed a $503 million contract. For most of my life the highest-paid players in sports have been NBA stars or baseball players. This was the first time that a National Football League player was the highest paid athlete in America. Forty-five million a year and it’s really the perfect spot for him from coach to offensive stars... It certainly feels like it has a long runway feel to it. Tom Brady may have shocked us when he arrived, he was drafted late, and it was mostly about Belichick and defense, but Mahomes is the star of the show in Kansas City for a decade or more.”

9. Giannis Antetokuenmpo wins his second straight MVP, signs extension with the Bucks

“He hasn’t had the postseason success like other stars like Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, or LeBron James, but from Greece he is perceived to be the NBA’s best defensive player, the toughest big to defend, and the third player in league history to win the MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season. He’s in good company with Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon. It should be noted that recently he signed a supermax with Milwaukee guaranteeing that he will stay in Milwaukee for the foreseeable future.”
