Former WWE Superstar Comes Out as Transgender

A former WWE superstar came out as a transgender woman on Thursday (February 4.)

Gabbi Tuft, formerly known as Gabe Tuft, who wrestled under the name "Tyler Reks," announced her transition in a press release from PRNewswire promoting an upcoming appearance on Extra TV, which will air on Friday (February 5.)

Tuft also announced her transition and upcoming Extra TV virtual interview with Billy Bush on her Twitter account.

"Tomorrow on Extra TV, be sure to watch my exclusive interview with Billy Bush. Mark your calendars and visit http://extratv.com to check your local listings and air time."

Tuft, 42, previously wrestled for WWE from 2008-12, before asking for her release in order to spend more time with her family.

Tuft and her wife, Priscilla, created "BODY SPARTAN," a fitness company and app, after her retirement from professional wrestling.

According to the press release, Tuft said she had "a persona" that was "hiding in the loud silence" of her soul "since childhood" and, with the blessing of her wife, was finally ready to reveal who she really is.

"Gabbi is about to share her thrilling story of gender transitioning from a former WWE Superstar, Body Builder, Fitness Guru, Motivational Speaker and Motorcycle Racer to a fun-loving and fabulous female. She has been finally set free and ready to rule her world."
Former WWE Wrestler Comes Out As Transgender

Tuft is the first-known WWE superstar to come out as transgender. In 2019, Nyla Rose became the first out transgender woman to compete full-time for a major wrestling promotion when she made her debut in All Elite Wrestling.
