It Will Never Get Better than Lakers/Warriors in the NBA Play-in Tourney

Dan Patrick doubts we will ever see a better matchup in the NBA Play-in Tournament, assuming it becomes a permanent fixture. With six MVP Awards between them, multiple championships and all-time great status for both guys, we are being treated to a fantastic game between LeBron James and Steph Curry. Dan is convinced it will never get better than this.

Dan Patrick: “There’s a good chance the Lakers/Warriors matchup tonight will be the most star-studded play-in game in NBA history. Even if the play-in tournament is adapted on a full-time basis, I can’t imagine that you’re going to have a matchup where you have rivals LeBron (James) vs. Steph (Curry), two of the greatest players, two of the top ten players of all time when it’s all said and done. They’ve won six MVPs between them, they’ve combined to win five of the last six championships. They may not be at the peak of their careers but they’re not far off. Certainly, Steph made a great case for MVP this season, leading the injury-depleted Warriors to the playoffs. He won the scoring title. LeBron was arguably on pace to win the MVP until he hurt his ankle. So, it seems unfair that one of these teams has to lose but, whoever comes up short gets another shot…”
