Doug Gottlieb dissects the Carolina Panthers decision to reacquire Cam Newton now that Sam Darnold is on the injured reserve list. While it’s fun to remember the glory days, much like a one-hit-wonder band, Cam Newton is a shadow of his former self. But necessity has forced the Panthers’ hand, and since they really don’t have any other options, they simply have to hope for the best. At the very least, it should put fans in the seats.
Doug Gottlieb: “That’s what it feels like for Carolina, they’re getting the band back together. Cam in a Panthers’ uniform makes a whole hell of a lot of sense... Having Cam Newton around probably sells some extra tickets.”
