Dan Patrick doesn’t want anyone to underestimate the impact of the lawsuit that Brian Flores is bringing against the Dolphins, Broncos, Giants, and the NFL. There are so many angles, including the application of the controversial ‘Rooney Rule’ and tanking games for draft picks, and it has the potential to embroil the entire league in a contentious court battle with a who’s who of NFL executives being deposed and forced to answer to these accusations. Dan suggests the NFL may want to settle this out of court like they did with Colin Kaepernick.
Dan Patrick: “The Giants say they have the more qualified candidate. They didn’t. The Rooney Rule is there. Stephen Ross with the possibility of being deposed and having to talk about this or deny this...are you going to depose Bill Belichick? This is a whole lot bigger than just one guy taking on the NFL... The NFL, are they going to settle? Will Brian Flores settle? They settled with (Colin) Kaepernick. (Are) they going to settle here? You don’t want to go in and have your owner deposed. You don’t want the commissioner; you don’t want John Elway with the Broncos. No, you don’t want that.”
