It may be privately and it may be publicly but he will be offered the job. Sean is going to take a broadcasting job for one or two years. He’s not going to be a game analyst like Troy Aikman or Cris Collinsworth, networks really want you to commit to that long-term but they’ll put him on a set like Phil Simms or Howie Long… What is happening to Mike McCarthy and I think it happens to a lot of people, and it’s scary for a lot of people…you get older and you get into your late-50’s and early-60’s, you’re in an industry and the industry gets really young, really fast, and that’s NFL head coach. We just had 36-year-old Sean McVay beat 38-year-old Zac Taylor. Nobody wants to say this, but I think even Belichick is struggling to pivot to the new NFL, which is a weapons league. You can argue that of the last eight teams left this year, all 8 were in the top 12 best weapons in the league. New England is bottom of the league in weapons and even Belichick is struggling to pivot. Mike McCarthy sounds OLD for 58 years old. It’s not a ‘bold’ prediction because Sean Payton is in his 50’s and he feels much more dynamic and much more creative. Sometimes industries get young FAST. Late-night television, NFL coaching, tech has always been young, and you feel outdated.
