Why Cavaliers Should Want Nothing to Do With Another LeBron James Reunion

Colin Cowherd: “LeBron said the ‘door is not closed on returning to the Cavaliers, my last year will be played with my son.’ It’s interesting, Cleveland for years and years was desperate for LeBron. If you look at the Cavs and their young players there’s an argument to be made that they are going to be one of the top 5 or 6 teams in this league for the next 6 or 7 years. Darius Garland, a guard, is averaging 20 a game, he replaced Colin Sexton who is hurt, who averaged 24 last year. They just got Caris LeVert from the Pacers, a very good young player. They’ve got Evan Mobley who is going to win Rookie of the Year, Jarret Allen – an excellent big, Cleveland has got an unbelievable and ascending young foundation with excellent young players. If I ran Cleveland, I’m not trading for LeBron in the next two years. I’m not blowing this up. LeBron has twice bailed on Cleveland for glamorous Miami, and glamorous Los Angeles – how many times do you want to get burned, Ohio? When LeBron says ‘I’m not shutting the door to Cleveland’, who says that it’s open? I wouldn’t move any of these players, absolutely not. It’s the duality of LeBron. With LeBron you get his greatness, his IQ, and he makes everybody better, but he’s in his 19th year, you don’t get full seasons, he is still remarkable, but the temperature in the room changes when LeBron is in your franchise, and I want to see this young Cleveland group grow. There’s an argument to be made that in the next 3-4 years they’re going to become the next Milwaukee Bucks. I don’t think any team in the East has as much talent as Cleveland does. Cleveland is not desperate anymore. They’ve got an owner who has got his franchise back.” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks the Cavaliers should want no part of a second LeBron James reunion in Cleveland, as the Ohio native teased a potential return to the team if it meant playing alongside his 17-year-old son, Bronny James, if he ever makes it to the NBA.

Check out the video above as Colin details why Cleveland shouldn’t hand over their roster to LeBron in a potential trade when they’ve already got a gifted core that could eventually win another championship without him.
