Aaron Rodgers' 'Scapegoat' Teammates Are Now Frustrated: Report

Aaron Rodgers' Green Bay Packers teammates are reportedly displeasured with his recent finger-pointing amid the team's struggles, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported (subscription needed) on Wednesday (November 9).

The Packers appear to have a growing discord among the roster after "some of the young wide receivers have been painted as scapegoats" for the team's 3-6 start to the 2022 NFL season, according to Fowler.

Rodgers had previously shared his frustration with the receiving corps during training camp and, according to Fowler, his public chastising "isn't sitting well with some," especially given his absence from OTAs early in the offseason.

Additionally, Fowler claimed that there's also “frustration over the defense, particularly on the back end, where communication and game plan issues have persisted.”

Green Bay is currently facing a five-game losing streak, which included dropping a 15-9 loss to the last-place Detroit Lions last Sunday (November 6).

“Guys who are making too many mistakes, shouldn’t be playing,” Rodgers said during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show last month. “Gotta start cutting some reps. Maybe guys who aren’t playing, maybe give them a chance.”

The reigning two-time NFL MVP has thrown for 2,091 yards, 14 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, which is only two less than his combined total during the past two seasons.

In August, Rodgers publicly expressed his frustration with his receiving corps following a joint practice with the New Orleans Saints, excluding veterans Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb, as well as then-recent free agent acquisition Sammy Watkins, who he said had his best day of practice at the time.

“It’s unfortunately some of the same guys,” Rodgers said at the time via the New York Post. “Repeat mistakes [are] a problem, so we’ve just got to clean those things up a little bit. The young guys, especially young receivers, we’ve got to be way more consistent. A lot of drops, a lot of bad route decisions, running the wrong route. We’ve got to get better in that area. But I felt like the line for the most part held up pretty good, which was good to see.”

The Packers will host the Dallas Cowboys at Lambeau Field on Sunday (November 13).
