Gregg Berhalter Returning Shows USMNT is Complacent with Mediocrity

Jason Smith “I don’t understand how you can look at Berhalter’s time he spent with the US Mens National Soccer team and say that was a success. If it was a success they would have brought him back, they wouldn’t have let his contract lapse and they would have weathered the storm with what went on with him and his wife and the Reynas,  which was just awful for everyone involved, they would have found a way to do it but instead they let it lapse and now they want to go back to him? Is there really no one else out there that wants to take the job.... this is a real high profile job I don’t understand how you can’t get somebody. Part of it is well if I don’t do well I’m going to get fired... but if you win you have a job forever and you’re an absolute legend.”

Jason Smith discusses Gregg Berhalter returning as the USMNT Head Coach and how this impacts the teams expectations leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.
