Jason Smith - “The Angels don’t have any intention of trading Ohtani, but they want to make it seem like they are covering all their bases. They want to give the teams a chance to stay in it but if they can’t they will look to trade him, but oh look it’s too late or it is too difficult to put a trade together so they are going to keep him for the rest of the season. That I can see, that sort of conspiracy where the Angels make it seem like they are going to trade Ohtani, that’s something I can see happening. “
Mike Harmon – “The Angels aren’t just going to say, ‘alright well it’s been a good ride see you later’ so if we are looking at it from a resigning aspect how many teams are eliminated form consideration before you really have a legitimate conversation about getting Shohei.”
