Rob Parker Rejects Deion Sanders Hype After TCU Win: 'It's Just One Game'

Rob Parker: “It’s only one game. I don’t want to get too crazy with where people have taken this after, granted, an epic victory, but it is only one game. People are getting carried away. It's a great win and I’m not trying to pooh-pooh it, discount it, or whatever, but it’s one win and now teams will not be taking Colorado lightly. TCU gave up 510 passing yards. 510?? Does ‘TCU’ stand for ‘Texas Choke University’? You cannot lose that game at home. You have to question what’s going on there and how much last year was a fluke. Deion Sanders did a great job at Jackson State, and I think he’s a fabulous dude when it comes to the kids and trying to better the kids and give them opportunities. I love everything he’s doing but I'm not going to throw a parade where he’s cashing receipts after Week 1 and questioning media members who weren’t all the way on-board. You better be careful with all of that, throwing confetti after Week 1 and acting like you’ve ‘ARRIVED.’ Because you can win a game in college football. I remember when Jeff Saturday—and Deion has coaching experience so it’s not exactly the same thing—but do you remember when Jeff Saturday won his first game? The reaction to winning his first game; they were praising Jeff Saturday-- ‘SEE! YOU DON’T NEED TO BE A COACH! HE DOESN’T HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE! IT’S ABOUT BEING A LEADER OF MEN! IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT COACHING!’ That thing turned quickly. Be careful about throwing confetti at people after one week because you’re not going to sneak up on anybody else going forward. The tough talk and ‘everybody was supposed to be on-board!', really?? Everybody was supposed to be on-board before the season started? That’s a false narrative. That everybody thought Deion and Colorado was going to start winning right out of the gate and beat out the runner-up of the National Championship game. If that was the case, then they wouldn’t have been 20-point underdogs. Had they lost and gotten blown out by 21 would you say ‘SEE! DEION CAN’T COACH! HIS SEASON IS OVER! HE’S TERRIBLE!’ Wouldn’t that be unfair too after one week? Pump the brakes. Great game, great start, but let’s not get carried away.” (Full Segment Above)

Watch Rob Parker of Fox Sports Radio’s ‘The Odd Couple’ tamp down the Deion Sanders Week 1 phenomenon after Colorado’s shocking win over TCU on the road, with Rob comparing the win to former Indianapolis Colts head coach Jeff Saturday’s triumphant first win, which was then followed by an ugly losing streak.

Check out the segment above as Parker shoots down the narrative that the media was somehow going out of their way to act unfair towards Deion and not giving him a chance.
