Wait Another Year Before Evaluating Bronny James

Doug Gottlieb: "When car companies create a new car or a new model, you wait until the second year of it being out so they work out all the kinks. That's the same thing with Bronny James. The issue with Bronny James is not that he's not good, it's just that there's a level of hype that there's no way he'll live up to, so many people haven't seen him, and we rush the process. We want the new model to be perfect as soon as it comes off of the assembly line, and it is just not. His style of play right now is not valued at a first round draft pick. He's not an NBA starter, he's not even a college starter. But I'll tell you what; that second year round, they'll work out the kinks. They figure that stuff out. That's the truth to Bronny James. Second year, he'll be good. Third year, he should be an all-conference player. Fourth year he could be an All-American. USC has had a really disappointing season, and I don't think it's Bronny's fault in any way, but I do think the hype becomes distracting."

Doug Gottlieb believes the jury is still out on Bronny James' true potential as both an NBA prospect and college athlete. Doug breaks down why the high expectations and immense level of intrigue never boded well for Bronny James, as he simply doesn't have the ability to be an impact one-and-done college star. However, as Doug demonstrates, this does not mean that Bronny in incapable becoming a first-round talent, and James deserves the wait-and-see approach before people get a sense of his true abilities.
