2020 NFL Gambling Previews According to Vegas Sharps: Dallas Cowboys

After starting the season 3-0 and watching Dak Prescott look like an early MVP candidate, the Cowboys embarrassingly drifted back to oblivion the next 13 games in one of Jerry Jones’ most disappointing air balls of a season.

Despite the Eagles’ three top wideouts Alshon Jeffery, Desean Jackson, and Nelson Algorhlor missing a combined 24 games last season, and the Giants and Redskins bottoming out as arguably the league’s two worst teams, the Cowboys still shockingly failed to win the NFC East.

The Cowboys would lose 4 of their final 6 games, and only beat one team all season who reached the playoffs.

Prescott finished second in the league in passing yards and fourth in QBR, but underperformed down the stretch, especially in the defacto NFC East title game in Week 16 versus the Eagles, when Dak failed to get the Cowboys offense into the endzone.

Dak commandeered a Dallas offense that posted a measly 1-6 record in one-score games, as Dak struggled to take over games late.

The lost season ultimately pushed favorite son Jason Garrett out, and former Super Bowl champion in Green Bay, Mike McCarthy in, as Dallas could make one final run at a Super Bowl before eventually having to potentially part ways with a franchise-tagging Prescott, who the franchise still seems lukewarm on paying.

In the offseason the Cowboys added quarterback Andy Dalton from the Bengals, defensive end Everson Griffen from the Vikings, defensive end Aldon Smith from free agency, defensive tackle Dontari Poe from the Panthers, safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix from the Bears, kicker Greg Zuerlein from the Rams, and their first round draft pick was Oklahoma wide receiver Ceedee Lamb.

Key loss included Randall Cobb, Jason Witten, Travis Frederick, Xavier Su’a-Filo, Cameron Fleming, Robert Quinn, Michael Bennett, Maliek Collins, Byron Jones, Jeff Heath, and Gerald McCoy will be lost for the season with injury,

Their over/under for wins is 9.5, their odds to win the Super Bowl are 12/1, their odds to win the NFC are 6/1, their odds to win the NFC East are 4/7, and they’re -280 to make the playoffs.
